I can remember my life before I became a Christian. At times, I try not to remind myself of my actions and ways of the past. It is during these times that I find great comfort in the following Scripture.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (NKJV)

I recently went to the car dealership to get some warranty work done on my car. It has been a number of years since I owned a car, and therefore I had not been in to the dealership in some time. In fact, the last time I was there, I was not born again.

Much to my surprise, the same people were still working there. Even more to their surprise, as it turned out, I was not the same person as they remembered. They still knew me by name, but not because of the way one wants to be remembered. I could almost feel the tension as I entered and they addressed me by name. I had been, as one could say, not the most polite and courteous customer in the world. I am sure that they all wished it had been their time to go for a break.

As I went to the counter and shared the items that needing attending to with my car, I was polite and patient. The new me was exhibiting a changed and transformed person. It wasn't long before the sales people began to notice this new customer before them. I was able to witness and share the love of Jesus in a very meaningful way.

Even though the past is not always what we want to remember, if we allow Jesus to work in our life, it can be turned around into a blessing and testimony for His glory.

Revelation 7:12 – Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honour and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen. (NKJV)

Prayer: We thank You dearly for our past, for without a past we would have no future — a future of hope and eternal life and our salvation that we owe to You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
