1 Corinthians 10:13 – There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (KJV)

One day as I was going for a walk, I had to stand at a busy intersection and wait for the traffic to clear and the light to turn. The intersection is at the highway leading through town, so there is a lot of heavy, big traffic passing by. One of our main industries here is lumber, so there are many log-hauling trucks on the roads.

As I was standing there waiting, a big rig hauling logs turned from going east to going north. As he passed by within a few feet of me, anxiety filled my heart briefly. I thought that if the load of logs happened to come off, they would all land on top of me, and that would be the end. Just as quickly as that anxiety reached my heart, the truth came to me that I had to trust that the driver knew how many logs he could haul safely and that he had secured the load properly.

In our Christian lives, we are to trust the driver as well — the driver that is Jesus Christ. We are to trust that He knows what is best for us and how much we can carry. We may be apprehensive and fearful when we take a deep look at life and what is before us. But God is trustworthy.

Prayer: Thank You that You are trustworthy and that You are faithful. Help us to trust You with every detail of our lives, both when the load is heavy and when the load is light. Amen.
