Hebrews 2:13 – I will put my trust in him. (KJV)

2 Chronicles 20:15 – Thus says the Lord to you, "Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's." (NASB)

At six months of age, my twin and I had to go live with two of our aunts (my twin at one place and I at another) for six months because Mom was hospitalized. Having two older children, Dad couldn't possibly take care of us twins and do all the farming and housework as well. Mom's cousin came to help out at home. My aunts did the best they could possibly do to provide safety and security for us. Mom told me years later that I wasn't happy at my aunt's house, but the minute I got home, I was content. Looking back and understanding more, I see that I felt abandoned by my family.

This feeling carried on into my adult years. When I went through rough times, I felt abandoned by God. I didn't know He was really trustworthy. I talked to Dad about it once. He assured me that I could trust God. My pastor affirmed that truth. So I decided because Dad and my pastor both said God is trustworthy, I would trust God.

Oh, how hard it was at first. God is faithful — and He proved Himself trustworthy time after time to me. He showed me, little by little, how I could trust Him. That battle was not mine to start with. I had to let go and let God win the battle.

Are we struggling with questions and doubts about God's trustworthiness? Will we get through this dark tunnel? Let's trust His Word. We go through life little by little — step by step. Let's trust Him with all our heart, soul, and mind.

Prayer: Thank You for being faithful and trustworthy. People let us down, but You never will. Help us to keep our eyes on You — especially when we're full of doubts. Help us to continue to trust You also when things are going well. Amen.
