Psalm 119:4 – Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. (KJV)

Ninety-nine percent of the time, I put on my makeup and do my hair before breakfast. One morning recently as I was getting ready to dash out the door to an appointment, I ran into the bathroom and put my lipstick on as usual. This time, though, I neglected to turn on the light. A block down the street, I realized with horror that I hadn't put on the rest of my makeup! So my lips looked great, but the rest of my face was pale. I dashed back home and made myself more presentable to go out. I was negligent that morning. I should have been diligent and made sure I was ready to go out the door.

In our lives, sometimes we're negligent. We neglect to read God's Word; we neglect to pray; we neglect to build relationships; we neglect to set healthy boundaries. That is when we pale. I would like to suggest that we need to dash back into God's Word and find Him there.

Proverbs 7:15 – Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. (KJV)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we come to You today, realizing how negligent we are at times. It is so easy to get too busy to do the important things in life. It is so easy to let our boundaries slacken. But You want us to be diligent, to be self-controlled, and to seek Your face diligently. If we do this, You promise that we will find You. Please help us. Amen.
