I've always found it difficult to answer someone who asks, "How do you know there's a God?"

Recently when I was driving through a mountain pass, I noticed a cabin just off the road at the summit. Supposing this was to offer shelter for stranded travelers or skiers, since there are ski runs nearby, it got me to thinking.

Suppose I were to go to a deserted cabin for shelter and settle in. Each day I would go out to scout around. What if on my return each day I found a bottle of milk and a loaf of bread, yet never saw a soul? I would know that there was someone providing for me. In other words, there was someone there. It didn't just happen!

So it is with my life. When I least expect it, provision is made for me. When I ask it is also done. There are times when God provides just enough thread to finish a project or a parking spot when it seems there are none. I think He has a sense of humour and is gleeful at my surprise.

As a long-time believer, I see His work every day and in so many circumstances. Whether we are new or long-time believers, each of us has the opportunity to witness God in our daily lives.

Prayer: Lord, please give us the insight to see Your presence and to be able to tell others of it. Help us to be gentle and not condescending when we do. In Jesus' name we ask. Amen.
