I am not an athlete. I don't play one on television. I do enjoy sports, especially watching football. I have been a real fan of football ever since I was seven years old. We used to gather on Sunday afternoons in our den in Dallas, Texas, and cheer on the Dallas Cowboys.

American football is a game in which millions of people participate each year — both as spectators and participants. The object of the game is simple: to win the game by scoring the most points. How does one do that? Where does one start?

The centre has the ball. The quarterback calls the plays. Once the quarterback calls "hut", and the ball is snapped to him, the play begins.

"Hut" means "execute the play now, by performing your responsibility to the best of your ability with an extraordinary level of discipline, intensity, enthusiasm, and toughness." This definition of the term came directly from University of West Alabama Tigers head football coach, Randy Pippin.

Christians should be able to relate to the game of football. God calls us to be a part of His team. In so doing, we each have certain roles to play. First, we must get the word from God as to what our roles should be, and how we should start; hence the relationship to the term "hut" in football. In today's Scripture, our role is defined simply. We are to be teachers, encouragers, instructors, and role models for those who don't know Him. He has given us the Word. It is up to us to execute the play.

Prayer: Father, so many times we neglect our own commitments to You. You have given us a directive, and we ask that You give us the enthusiasm and determination needed to accomplish the goals You have for us. Bless us, Lord. You are our chosen coach! Amen.
