Matthew 5:20 – For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter the kingdom of heaven. (KJV)

Those among us, who have ever put on weight to the point of popping that which keeps our clothes together, know we can do one of three things:

a) keep trying to pour ourselves into our clothes hoping they'll stretch — though we all know that, sooner or later, something "gives"
b) buy bigger sizes —
or
c) make changes to our lifestyle with regard to eating and exercise, so that what we have will once again be a "perfect fit".

Our clothes are a good gauge to let us know when we are doing too much of one thing and not enough of another. When bulges appear, buttons pop, and zippers split, we know that some things are out of sync.

It is much the same with respect to our relationship with God.

When we find that our lives have become so busy that we are having trouble "fitting Him in", we may do one of three things:

a) keep trying to pour ourselves into our daily demands, hoping to fit Him in — though we all know that, sooner or later, something "gives"
b) increase our waking hours —
or
c) make changes to our lifestyle with regard to taking in His Word and exercising our thanks throughout the day, so that the relationship we share with Him will once again be "a perfect fit".

Prayer: Guide us Father, through the periodic adjustments we continually need to make in our physical, spiritual, emotional, and social needs, to bring a perfect fit of balance to our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
