I took my car in for a lube and oil change, as it had reached the next stage on the little sticker that the service department had put on the car. It had been just over two months since it had been in last, but I had driven a great many kilometres going up and down to the hospital in Toronto in that time.

When the service manager called to say that the car was ready, he also told me that my brakes were in bad shape, and that I should arrange to have them repaired shortly. As he was talking, the shop foreman came in, and said that bad shape was an understatement, as the right rear brake was literally falling apart, the rotor was disintegrating, and there was no lining left. In other words, it was unsafe to drive. Needless to say, I left the car there, and told him to get right on it.

Now that I stop to think about it, I recall hearing a "funny noise" coming from the right rear as I drove home from Guelph a couple of weeks before. I just thank God for protecting me from a serious accident while the brakes were not good. I drove quite a distance in this two-week period, some at fairly high speeds on expressways.

We can be thankful that, although we are often unaware of it, God cares for us at all times. Isn't God good!

Prayer: We thank You, Lord, that You care for us at all times, even though we often are not aware of the protection You give us, and the love You shower on us. Help us to be thankful to You for all Your blessings, seen and unseen. Amen.
