Jeremiah 29:11 – "For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord, "they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (NLT)

After working for six hours, putting together the latest edition of The Bleckley County News, I got the call that my other "boss" had taken a job at the University of West Alabama. My first thought was, "Where in the world is Livingston, Alabama?"

So, what did I do? I searched the "Net", encountering information regarding education, taxes, history, and news about Livingston. To quote the Internet site about the city, "UWA, one block from downtown, offers unlimited educational opportunities, and exciting collegiate sports." Hey, Livingston appeared to be a small town, much like my hometown, Cochran, Georgia! Little did I know, as I said goodbye to my other boss and his family, that Livingston, Alabama, would be my new home.

When I came on campus for the big move, I realized that this was it — this would be home as I started to work and to do my stuff. There weren't butterflies in my stomach, there were gigantic bumblebees of nervousness. In fact, you could call me scared as I began to think ahead and wonder what I was doing so far from home. All these thoughts came into my head. I walked down to the post office, checking out the town, wiping away tears of fear, praying. But as I stood outside the post office for a minute, I looked to my left, and saw that the street sign read "Madison". The name of my maternal grandparents — two very godly people — was "Madison". I took that as my sign from above. God can use the most ordinary events or things, like a street sign, to validate His word!

Philippians 4:6-7 – Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ. (NIV)

No matter who we are, where we live, what gender or how old we are, we need to know that there are people and things we can count on, and that there is at least one constant in our life — God. So, why should we worry?

Prayer: Dear Lord, in everything, not only do we give You praise and love, but we give You thanksgiving for taking our burdens, and for being a constant in a world full of change. Remind us, Lord, that you did "overcome the world" (John 16:33) and that there is nothing too hard for You or too small for You. In Your name. Amen.
