A number of years ago, my youngest son wanted to wrestle. His older brother wrestled, and he just naturally fell into the sport. Actually, he became pretty good.

Problem: there was no Junior High coach. I knew very little about the sport. At the time, my sports had been martial arts and boxing. I did a little judo in college. So I volunteered. In this case, the need of a warm body overshadowed the need for actual knowledge.

To try to get a little knowledge, I teamed up with the head coach to go to a clinic. That is where I met a fellow I will call Len Jones. Len was a dynamite clinician and a dynamic presenter. His presentations were full of funny stories. I will always remember something he said. "Coach! Before you get too excited about something your wrestler does not do on the mat, remember you never told him." Len, of course, presented this in a very dramatic fashion.

But this is so true. They will never know if we do not tell them. We have an obligation to tell all about the truth of the gospel in Jesus Christ. A friend, a student in our Sunday School class, or a member of our congregation should never miss the truth because we did not tell them. Better to have them upset with us, which I find seldom happens except in our own minds, than to miss out on the "truth."

Prayer: Father, we are grateful that You have granted us the privilege of serving as Your ministers of the good news. Fill us with the Holy Spirit that we may go forward in this work. Amen.
