Philippians 4:1 – My dear, dear friends! I love you so much. I do want the very best for you. You make me feel such joy, fill me with such pride. Don't waver. Stay on track, steady in God. (MSG)

I am still slogging away at my weight. The numbers are thirty less than this time last year, but it has been "eating season" once again! My goal: more pounds off this year.

For many of us, the New Year brings the same old resolutions. The smokers try to stop once again. The spenders vow to reduce their charge card totals. The overweight struggle with diets, scales, and portion control.

Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying, "I may walk slowly, but I never walk back."

In those years that the world called "failure", we have been learning great lessons. We have figured out what does not work. With this much knowledge under our belts, we are ready for success!

Psalm 145:22 – My mouth is filled with God's praise. (MSG)

Psalm 34:1 – I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth. (Amplified)

Psalm 147:1 – It's a good thing to sing praise to our God; praise is beautiful, praise is fitting. (MSG)

Think about it! If we are praising God with our mouth, we can't use that same mouth for words not glorifying to Him. If "God, You are most worthy to be praised!" is coming out of our mouth, we won't be saying "Give me a carton," "Charge it," or "Chocolate bar, please!"

Prayer: Well, God, here we are again with the same old prayer. We yearn for freedom from our addictions and bad habits. We didn't see the way out before. Help us to see past programs and worldly methods. Help us to remember the cure: You! In Jesus' name. Amen.
