Revelation 3:20-22 – Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. We have just been to our third wedding in less than six weeks, our sixth in less than a year, and almost as many "Celebrations of Life" — memorials, or funerals.

Food follows the ceremony, where more and more, rather than serving a specific dinner, a banquet has been laid out, permitting those present to choose food that is familiar and appetizing, or suitable for those with allergies or religious or moral convictions.

Recently a friend asked how one keeps their faith when they've lost faith in where they'd kept it — meaning the church to which she'd long belonged.

She's not unique. Many among us are either experiencing the same situation right now, or have in the past. We can view it as distressful or as a wonderful opportunity to step up to the beautiful, bountiful denominational "banquet" before us, simply for the asking.

Stepping up to the table offering the blessings of "God's Banquet" brought me back, through Daily, to my Presbyterian roots; took me to a Living in the Spirit series at a Roman Catholic church; led me to Contemplative Prayer and an Alpha course with Anglicans — all denominations that are familiar to me — and led me to partake again in their services.

When trying to keep our faith, it helps when closing one door, to be willing to open others.

Prayer: We give thanks for Your many denominations, and the many opportunities we are offered in which to share in Your praise. In Your name we pray. Amen.
