Isaiah 9:2 – The people who walk in darkness will see a great light; those who live in a dark land, the light will shine on them. (NASB)

Has there ever been a time in your life when you were so frustrated because you did something and, after having done it, regretted it? I have. At such times, the days, the months, and sometimes years, become dark, and hope seems to be an eternity away.

Frustrated, alone, tears running down my cheeks, I began to pray, but did not know what to say. It is at such times, in our silence, that God speaks to us: "My child, take this time to talk to Me, your heavenly Father. I, your Father, yearn for you to talk to Me. Tell Me your hurts. Tell Me your failures. Tell Me your heartaches. I am here to listen. I know what is best for you, my child. All you have to do is trust in Me."

Friends offer us well-meaning advice, which is sometimes very helpful, and yet at other times, leaves us all the more confused. But the advice of one friend, who told me to listen to Jesus and trust that He will bring light into the darkness, brought to remembrance the voice that spoke to me during my silence. I thank God that He has indeed heard my cry, has forgiven me, and has healed what I did.

Jesus continually shows us the depths of darkness into which He will travel in order to bring forgiveness, healing and wisdom to His children, and glory to the kingdom of God.

John 8:12 – Again therefore Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Prayer: Thank you, Father, that we can bring our burdens, our failures, our anxieties and our frustrations to Your heavenly throne, through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Saviour. Amen.
