Psalm 27:14 – Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (NIV)

How often do we see or not see the amber light? We travel through our lives on the go. Referring to traffic lights green, amber and red, are we travelling too fast on the green? When the amber light shows, do we press on, trying to beat the light before it turns red?

The amber light is a warning for us. It is the time between go and stop.

Where does God fit into all this? Does He represent the amber light in our lives? Yes, He is the one who stands before us to warn us as we go through our lives. He stands as a beacon: Don't go too fast; be prepared to see the warning before the stoplight turns red.

We must not try to run God's red lights. It says in today's scripture, "Wait for the Lord."

In running a red light, one can put oneself and others in a position of injury. Regarding God as the amber light in our lives, we do well to remember Deuteronomy 6:16, "Do not test the Lord your God." (NIV) We must never put God to the test or try to make any deals with Him. He is sovereign and in full authority.

How often do we use or not use God as our warning signal? This is an important question — one that should be answered from the depths of our hearts. God has given to each of us the way in which to live our lives; the rules are all set up in the book of life, our Bible. We must be ready to take caution in how we tread through our lives, and always be on the watch for the signal to stop.

   Green Amber Red
Go Caution Stop
Birth Life Death
Spiritual Birth Life His Way Eternal Life
(True light)

Prayer: Dear Lord, as we travel the road of life, be with us. Caution us as to how we should live in the true light you have set out for us. We thank You for the sacrifice You made through our Lord Jesus Christ for us and for our salvation. To You be all honour and glory. Amen.
