1 Corinthians 12:18-20 – But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. (NIV)

I do not like to admit it a whole lot, but I do enjoy baking. One thing I have learned through mistakes is that the ingredients for a cake must be added correctly.

There is a reason why the measurement of the ingredients is important. One time, I forgot I had already added salt to the batter so I added it again. That cake did not turn out tasting too well. I have also forgotten to add the baking soda to a batter. As one can imagine, the cake did not rise. It was one flat, dense cake. So, too much of one thing or not enough of another can make a big difference in how the cake turns out.

In the past I have had a hard time, thinking that because I was not a pastor I was not able to do the work of the Lord. I felt that I had to be in the spotlight in order to accomplish this. Over time I have learned that this is not true. Not every one can be a general in the army, but instead it takes many foot soldiers. We as Christians are all part of the one body in Christ, and every part is important to the function of that body.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we never think of ourselves as not important enough for you to use for your glory. Take us, and use us as you see fit for your glory. May we only serve humbly, according to your will. Amen.
