Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (KJV)

Years ago, things were pretty stable, job-wise. One could choose a vocation and, barring "unprofessional conduct", or a movement on the employee's part, one was almost assured of a position with the same company until such time as one retired.

Not so nowadays! No matter how educated or trained or devoted to the job one may be, no job is 100{8395b6ce96fcf25a14d80edc3b65c36a8995b6c1ba5f8c16ac11d8adaa79f35b} secure. There are fewer and fewer businesses that are handed down within the family, making even management changeable.

A new boss is not often readily accepted, and is usually eyed with an air of caution and hesitation — put on each employee's "personal probation", if you will. We wonder what is expected of us, whether or not they are trustworthy, whether they "play games", how secure we are, what sort of changes will be implemented. We wonder what kind of a boss he or she will be. Never mind that the new boss may view us with as much caution and hesitation!

Aren't we fortunate that in our faith, our boss never changes? We never have to question what is expected of us, we can reinforce His expectations of us at any time of the day simply by reading the Bible. We know He doesn't "play games", that His love and His trustworthiness are steadfast. We know that while our daily life changes, what He offers us never does. We know what kind of boss He is: the same yesterday, today, and for ever.

Prayer: Our heavenly Father, may we just take time each day to thank you for your never-changing position, for your trust, for your offer of hope and salvation, of a love that lasts forever. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
