Jeremiah 29:11 – I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for. (GNB)

Last spring I found myself continuing to be employed in a job that I no longer enjoyed. I struggled to accept God's will which seemed that I should stay in my present work. I was becoming increasingly desperate.

One night I called out to God in my desperation: "Lord, help me!" Later that evening I was looking over job postings that I normally ignore. One job caught my eye, and I felt that God was leading me to submit an application. I checked out the situation and it seemed worthwhile to file my application, so I did. I prayed again, "God, if this is the job you want me to have, then I know it will be mine." I decided to leave the matter with God, and soon I was called for an interview. I prayed, "God help me to say what you want me to say in this interview." I came out of the interview feeling totally comfortable with the employer. I got the job and I now work as a secretary. I never dreamed that I would be doing this kind of work, much less enjoying it, feeling affirmed and fulfilled on a day-to-day basis.

Prayer: Holy God, as you reveal your plan for our lives, you convince us that you love us. We, your servants, are important to you. We praise and thank you for this kind of affirmation. Amen.
