Romans 12:6,7,8 – Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministering; or he that teacheth, on teaching; or he that exhorteth, on exhortation; he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness.

To be a "listener" is a gift for some, a fine-tuned, practised art for others.

There are those of us who do more listening, and those of us who wish to be listened to more.

Occasionally, a situation will call for a reversal of the roles and "all hell breaks loose", causing the "listener" to exclaim, "No one listens to me!" and puts the ones used to being listened to in a quandary as to what to do, because the "listener" doesn't seem to be listening, but requires those used to being "listened to", to listen.

Sound confusing?

It is a relatively common human condition. God, however, listens and offers us the ability to listen to Him. He has told us that as we ask, so shall we receive. We know He hears us when we ask. We must be aware of what it is He wishes us to receive. We must listen to Him after we have asked Him to listen to us.

Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we ask that you hear us as we pray, that we may hear you, listen to, and accept your wishes for us. In Your name we pray. Amen.
