You, my sister, have been on my mind since our last conversation and I have been praying for you. Both of us are single at this time in our lives and both of us wish that this situation would change. What we should remember are two things, basically. First, God wants the best for us, even more than we do!: "For your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Mark 6:32)

The second thing is that this time in our lives is the time he uses (if we let him) to help us grow closer in our relationship with him. We are like David alone in the field: during his time as a shepherd, he composed the Psalms that glorify God. God used the time that David had alone with him, to build a relationship with him. David was, it seemed, even forgotten by his family at times, and his life seemed to have no purpose. But God made a king out of this shepherd. It did however, take time. "But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing." (James 1:4) This verse is super-good. God knows the desires of our hearts, and we must ask in faith. But we must also have patience, for we do not know His plan; only He does.

We need to revel in the fact that we are God's children, nothing more. Our strength should be found in Him and Him alone. I think about how weak I am in faith and in the spirit, and am only able to remain hopeful in the knowledge that his strength is made perfect in my weakness. Consider the vain attempts you've made in life trying to get what you want instead of waiting on God. Trying to put yourself in the right place, with the right outfit at the right time to ensure you find a mate, is not going to work. Give it to God; let him decide when, how and who it will be. "Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life. . . which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?" (Matthew 6:25)

Admit your weakness, and acknowledge that you are capable of controlling nothing. He is with you. He loves you. He even knows your loneliness. Why not give it all to the one who controls everything and then trust the love of the one who sacrificed all that he had and was to gain your love?

Prayer: Lord, whatever our trial or discouragement, help us to trust that you know best, and that your timing for the answer to our prayers in perfect. In Jesus' name. Amen.
