Psalm 34:8 – O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.

Most everyone must be familiar with those 3-D pictures in the comic section of the weekend newspapers. They're called "the magic eye" and they were really big sellers as pictures about four years ago. People bought them as conversation pieces, if nothing else. You would stand back about 4 or 5 feet and stare at the thing until you either saw the picture in 3-D, pretended to, or had the nerve to say you just couldn't see it.

There have always been those who "saw" it right away, and are content with the self-satisfaction at their ability to do so. Then there are those who, upon finally "seeing it", exclaim to all within earshot "I see it. I see it!"… sometimes continuing on so far as to goad others that "it's right there, can't you see it?!" Some jump on the bandwagon once they know what the magic picture is, and hope that by pretending, they will either blend in, or somewhere down the line, finally be able to "see" it too. And, there will always be those who just don't "see" it, won't try, or don't want to. They may even tell you that there's nothing there, you only think it is, because you want it to be.

It strikes me that God is perceived in much the same way.

Some people just seem to see and accept God's presence right away, and are content within themselves. Some may have never experienced His grace and glory, and upon doing so, exclaim from the rafters that He exists, telling everyone around them. Some want to experience His presence, but try as they might, they just don't "see" it. And of course, there will always be those too, who will say He does not exist…we only think He does, because we want Him to.

The beautiful thing about God is, He is constant…and those who don't "see" that, can keep trying, for He will never go away.

Prayer: Our Lord and Saviour, we give thanks that you are steadfast. That you are always there for us. That you are there for those of us who try to "see" you, and there too, for those who think they don't want to. Through Jesus Christ Our Lord we pray. Amen.
