1 Corinthians 12:21 – And the eye cannot say to the hand, "I have no need of you"; nor again the head to the feet, "I have no need of you."

In these days of tension, conflict and strife, it is both refreshing and rare to see people co-operating. An example of this was a paralyzed lady and a blind man. What a sight to see them arriving at church. She in her wheelchair used her eyes to look for the green light and avoid the traffic, and he in turn used his legs to push her across the street. The eye could not say to the feet, "I have no need of you." A missionary once saw two lepers planting seeds in a field. The leprosy had wasted away the hands of one man, and the feet of the other. The man with the good feet carried the other on his back. With his good pair of hands he was dropping seeds one by one into the holes his partner made with his feet. By themselves each would have been helpless, but they worked together. This is the attitude that St. Paul encouraged among the various members of the body of Christ. Each of us is to use our own gifts to benefit our brothers and sisters in Christ, while we in turn are to be dependent on them. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."

Prayer: O Lord, help us to appreciate those whom You have placed near us in the Body of Christ. Help us to be thankful that You have given Your people just the right mix of spiritual gifts to accomplish what You want done in Your kingdom. In Jesus' name. Amen.
