Luke 11:13 – If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.

Rev. Lorna Raper-Hillian is a beloved minister of St. Andrew's elder Mary Watt when Mary is visiting 'out west'. Lorna writes:

I find when I am worried or upset about an issue, I simply give it over to God. I don't believe God wants me to be anxious or worried about things I cannot change. In entrusting the issues to God, I acknowledge God's power at work in the situation to change and heal.

I believe prayer changes us. We loosen our clutch on situations or people we thought were ours to control. We learn to relax, having entrusted situations and people to God. Prayer is a way of drawing closer to God and to other people. It is a way of deepening our trust in God's gracious acts on our behalf.

Prayer: God you know the stress and strain of the lives we live. Help us take the trials and tribulations of the day to you, and teach us to pray in all circumstances. Amen.
