Philippians 2:8-10 – He humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place… that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…

By His obedience, Jesus has won the victory over the world, death, and the devil. Obedience. The heart of the matter is obedience. It is the core. The crux. The centre. Therefore every knee will bow. Bow in adoration, adulation, and affirmation. Bow in proclamation, and praise. Or bow in apprehension, and terror. The accuser who tempted Jesus of Nazareth to kneel before it for mere global supremacy, will one day kneel before Jesus Christ in abject horror. The one who tempted Jesus of Nazareth to throw Himself from the citadel of the temple, will be thrown into the fiery pit. The one who distorted God's Holy Word, will be judged by the Word — God's Logos — Jesus Christ. The one who tempted the Bread of Life to conjure mere mealy bread from cold hard stone, will find its conjuring crushed by the One who rose from the tomb.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, We bow before You in mute awe at Your victory on our behalf. Thank You. Enable us to follow Your example of obedience, for we pray in Your name. Amen.
