Matthew 22:37-38 – Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment."

I recently completed a run of Nunsense II as Sr. Robert Anne. In Act 2, Robert has a solo called Angeline. It is the story of a young girl who fell in love with the image of being a nun. She joined a convent and lived happily ever after, until the convent closed and the habits were exchanged for street clothes. Sr. Angeline was still Sr. Angeline. She turned in her habit but not her faith. But did she? You see, in this song, Sr. Angeline was a nun in love with serving God through her image and role as a nun. When that external image was removed, so was her whole concept of God.

Do you also serve the Lord through the image you present? Is going to church, serving in the church, attending Bible study, more important then having a personal love relationship with your Lord? Are you a "professional Christian" who puts on their Christian garb each day and takes it off when no one is looking?

God is more interested in a love relationship with you than He is in what you can do for Him . If you are placing more emphasis on serving Him than on knowing Him, then don't just do something, stand there and get to know His face, His love, His touch. He's waiting for you. Don't you hear Him calling? Can't you see Him beckoning? It's you He's looking for.

Prayer: Father, I long to know You better each day that I live. I long to be so close to You that I recognize the sound of Your voice, the step of Your feet, and the touch of Your hand. Cause me to hunger and thirst for You and for Your love. Lord, if I have placed more emphasis on serving You than on loving You, forgive me Lord. And thank you, Father, that there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus and that Your Grace is sufficient for Me. In Christ I pray. Amen.
