Acts 2:31-32 – Seeing what was ahead, he spoke of the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to the grave, nor did his body see decay. God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of the fact. (NIV)

I never have been very good at face to face witnessing for our Lord. I find myself shy and tongue-tied when an opportunity for witness on a personal basis presents itself.

Even with this, there are very few who know me who do not know of my faith and love of God and His Son. I thank God that I can, at least, reference my faith on a frequent basis so that this is the case. Recently, following the death of my father, I was gifted by our Lord with another opportunity to share His love. I received a lot of "sympathy" cards and letters and I found myself called to answer each with a letter of hope and rejoicing and to include the prayer below. I was blessed with this task (and facilitated by my computer and mail merge) and received feedback which gladdened my heart as some, who hadn't professed before, shared the impact of this witness to the resurrection. It occurs to me that there is no better time to witness than after what the secular world considers a loss (enlarged to any loss).

Writing letters and professing my faith helped me more than anything, as it reminded me also of the promise I quoted from Acts 2.

Prayer: "O Thou who hast ordered this wondrous world and who knowest all things in earth and heaven: So fill our hearts with trust in Thee that by night and by day, at all times and in all seasons, we may without fear commit ourselves and those who are dear to us to Thy never-failing love, for this life and the life to come. Amen."
