Galatians 3:28 – There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

The terrible scourge of the 20th century, the Iron Curtain, has now fallen and the old foe is the new friend and all things are possible. Can that hope extend to the plight of the haves and have-nots, the warring factions, the ancient animosities? By the grace of God… yes!

It's is not surprising that many of the great witnesses to the love of God speak of days of darkness. Bishop Desmond Tutu in Hope and Suffering, has written that "to uphold faith and hope in these dark days of crisis is what it means to be the servants of God. Our servanthood and our witness are urgently needed and must be translated into action hallowed by prayer, the sacraments, worship, and meditation, shot through and through with the Holy Spirit of God."
